I wanted to do an updated Egg Cleanse or “Limpia” blog for since my last one this time around last year in 2021 & from the 3rd party I have submitted to in 2020. Here along with my services are listed is for anyone looking for answers to their questions or a how-to on these limpias

Oomancy is my go-to type of divination and spiritual cleansing that has also become my specialty. I perform this every 2 weeks to a month, and as needed and post photos along with my own interpretations on my Instagram (lalobadeariestarot). I typically choose to do limpias as needed according to the astrological transits, craziness of life, and anytime I do a reading for a client that just sits wrong with my soul. Also, when you work in a high pace environment or are just having “one of those days” where everything and anything can go wrong, it’s always a good idea to consider ending the night on a clean, quiet note & an egg cleanse.

In my original post, I take a quick dive into the different cultures and various places where this practice is used however, here in the states & in traditional American Hoodoo it is properly known as “Oomancy”. This type of divination, no matter the practice, use this tool to help remove the evil eye to identifying various stresses, pain, negative energies, and illness in the body. The practice is commonly known across the Latinx cultures as “Limpias con Huevos”. This ritual is performed by brujas & brujos, however it is definitely passed down through rites of passage & taught through word of mouth by elders. There isn’t too much else that I can still find on my searches for “limpias”. I learned this method of divination through my abuelas and tias that has been passed down. This was usually done as a once in a blue moon blessing & to clearly give my abuela a piece of mind when it came to her granddaughter.

Here are my instructions on how to do a “limpia” or egg cleanse. Please consider that practices require different steps in order to accurately perform this ritual. As I stated in my other written blog on a third-party site, if you do not feel comfortable performing your own egg cleanse, please seek any spiritual healer or practitioner who specializes in this cleansing to do it for you. I cannot stress this enough as some people think they can just do it and all is well and dandy. This is a modified version as I have changed my ritual styles for my egg cleanses.

First, I get an egg out of the fridge and set it on my altar for Santa Muerte asking for her blessing. If you do not have an altar of deity, please ask the Universe to bless your egg for this ritual. I also grab a CLEAR GLASS, usually a wine glass, and fill it with water until it is room temperature as well. PLEASE DO NOT USE A GLASS THAT HAS DESIGNS, IS NOT CLEAR IN COLOR, OR INDENTS IN IT! I did not mention this in my last blog post and I feel the need to stress it now! Your reading will not be accurate due to the shape and warping of the actual glass. You can obtain these easily at your local dollar store.
I take a spiritual bath OR SHOWER, doesn’t matter, while I wait for my egg and water to get to room temperature. This is the one thing I do not miss out on. I always use Epsom salts as well. Dr. Teals is my favorite HOWEVER, I also use my homemade spiritual cleansing soaps (located in my shop) for this purpose too. You can also use a baño of your choice too if you’d like.
After my spiritual bath, I just relax until I am completely calm & collective before passing the egg over my body. I do this by listening to music or watching my favorite shows. I also sometimes EAT and DRINK prior to the cleansing because this will make you hungry or thirsty after.
Then, I take my egg & I pass the egg from head to toe with my body. I always say 3 rounds of “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Hail Mary” in Spanish while also invoking my Santa Muerte with God. When I am finished, I crack my egg into the glass. I set my timer for 5 MINUTES! This is non-negotiable. For accurate omens & messages, you must let the egg sit.

Looking at the interpretations that I mentioned in my other blog post, I realized I have found modifications and additions to them as things definitely were missing from the original post to keep it at a number minimum:

Mal de Ojo aka “evil eye”, usually in the center of the water in the glass. That’s usually why people do these cleanses. These are only in the center of the glass and can be seen by the aerial view. NO YOU CANNOT GIVE YOURSELF MAL DE OJO!
It’s a major misconception. Please don’t let anyone convince you that you can “re-absorb” negativity…because you cannot. That’s…absurd to be honest. Especially when it comes to doing this method of divination on children.
Bubbles on the rim or on the bottom of the glass are your ancestors absorbing and watching negativity and evil thrown at you. I would take note to know the difference between these bubbles and when you have left water out for too long. Please make sure that you do not do an egg cleanse with water that has bubbles on it. There is a major difference with this omen. One is made by the yolk, the other is evaporation bubbles.
Make sure your yellow egg yolk sinks to the bottom as it indicates no work is being done on you; if it’s floating means there is work being done on you. BROKEN YELLOW YOLK INDICATES YOU ARE HEXED AND THE WORK ON YOU HAS BEEN COMPLETE! If this is the case, you need to take another spiritual bath, and redo the egg cleanse. This will have to be done as many times until the egg sinks and does not break. Usually this will take over a week to remove. People spend thousands of dollars to just get that result. Please don’t fall for that gimmick.
You want to look for strings which are extracted negative energy, pearls on top of them which indicates your guides are absorbing negativity aimed at you. These can also indicate how much pressure, stress, or pain that is occurring in the body with the density of the strings.
Needles and strings are different. Needles are almost hairlike in nature and can be extremely fine. Those can speak about things poking at you or aggravating your life. THIS DOES NOT INDICATE HEXING! You can irritate yourself and needles may form in your egg cleanse!
Watch for clear water which indicates your roads are open and clear of obstacles. This is ideal.
Definitely watch for ANY figures in the whites of the yolk. You can usually identify a male person or female person, respectively even if they identify as non-binary or any other pronoun. PLEASE USE YOUR DISCERNMENT WITH THIS! You usually do know who is doing what in your life & if it’s aimed at you.
Look for animals. Animals always have their respected spiritual meanings and can indicate omens of all sorts. These are my favorites as they can relate to songs, quotes, messages from those beyond the grave, etc.
Anchors and bells usually indicate love, a wedding, or an engagement. They also can indicate warnings and putting a stop to something.
Look for letters, numbers, etc. to help you identify who has an evil eye on you or other messages indicating travel, good health, money, and love.
Crosses mean crossed conditions. As you continue to do limpias, this should clear up. You would usually know what your blockages in life are if they appear. Sometimes they indicate what to anticipate. I have also found that crosses do indicate religion and if you possibly have been confused or misunderstood a task at hand.
Blood or black specks in the yolk indicate sicknesses. These also indicate hexes and spellwork when doing egg cleanses on the home. In pets, I would watch for behavioral changes and aggressiveness if this omen shows up.
2 yellow yolks indicate pregnancy or twins. This can also mean 2 identities.
Empty balloons aka “bombas” indicate trapped feelings, emotions, or situations at hands. This is commonly mistakes as “Mal de ojos”. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING!
If you see a skull, it can indicate death. I would also take it as a warning of deceit, cheating, lying, or mischief.
Cloudy water indicates you being deceived or blocked from a certain achievement, information, or blessing. This requires another cleansing to clear that up.
If your egg cleanse smells, YOU SHOULD CONSIDER CHECKING YOUR HEALTH WITH YOUR DR OR GENERAL PRACTITIONER. This is a clear indication of illness inside the body at times of which you may NOT be aware of. Some practices interchange this with blood or black specks, but I personally find that smells are far more serious. This is because when you think of certain illnesses they definitely give off a smell. In most cases, it’s usually an STI/STD. Other cases, it can be less or more serious.
ON A WEIRD OCCASION, watch for abnormal additions to the egg like a human hair, what looks like skin, nail clippings, etc. These can actually indicate who did the work and how they did it. It’s also a clear indication to watch your back, take more protective measures, and consult with yourself on an action plan.
CLEAR CUT WORDS! Do NOT avoid these messages. Sometimes you will see a blatantly clear name, “yes or No”, and anything you’d miss out on a regular basis. This is why you MUST look at all sides and angles.
Astrological signs for whoever is sending mal de ojo, for you to protect or watch, and even seasons to consider.

Other interpretations are anything you intuitively see, feel, hear, etc. while analyzing your egg. Sometimes you will find that the yolk will shift after a certain amount of time. As long as these shifts happen within the 25 minute mark, they are meant for you to interpret. Some people interpret for longer, but I don’t typically see the difference. Along with this cleansing, I now throw bones, cut the cards, or use a different form of divination with coffee or tea to confirm the messages in my egg.

Disposal:

Please use your discernment. You can toss the egg outside after salting the glass or you can flush it. There is no wrong answer. If you want to just toss it in the trash, you have do de-consecrate it by saying, “This egg has done its job, I ask [enter wording or Universe here] to de-consecrate this egg”. If you do choose to flush it or toss the egg outside, make sure to salt it first. It’s essential to clear the energies out of the space, egg, and glass at once.

After the cleanse, do what makes you feel good. Eat, sleep, play video games, rejuvenate your energy to deposit back into your body. Keep hydrated as well.

When should you do an egg cleanse?

After a long day at work.
After an argument.
After being around shitty energy.
After a nightmare or dream that disturbed you or a child.
An end of the week checkup.
When you feel sick.
Anytime you want (with reason)!

The Universe and Time hits everyone, including the people you never thought would get their “just desserts”. It’s tough to watch, but no bad deed goes unnoticed. Not even for you.
Being yourself actually goes a long way.
Talking to yourself will remind you of where and WHO you come from. It HUMBLES YOU.
When you dress comfortably, the day goes by easier.
You CAN go into TARGET and spend less than $50. I do it all the time.
You actually do have to establish your wine taste. Apparently there’s a big difference from wanting a sweet red and a dry wine…either way, don’t give me a dry wine.
Coca-Cola is still sovereign. Miss me with your Pepsi bullshit. Argue with yourself.
Living in the moment > taking photos.
It’s better to have a “quit” than a “termination” on your resume. Also, UPDATE your resume. You’ll be surprise at how many companies and jobs will find and hire you for YOUR price.
When you get a second chance, count your lucky stars, and under any circumstance don’t fuck that thing up twice.
Deleting texts, phone calls & emails over some dumb shit and acting like you never got them actually does wonders.
“I don’t know what to tell you,” is probably the smartest answer to ever give anyone. PERIOD.
